The word Fishnip started out as a nickname for me by a lad who went to primary school with me. I think it vaguely sounded like my surname, Bishop. At any rate, many many years later when I first decided to get myself a webpage, I was sat at the domain name screen wondering what the hell to use...most of my favourite ideas were taken! So from somewhere in the cluttered mess that is my head, the word Fishnip popped up. The rest is history!
The site itself is now in its third incarnation. The first one was designed in Dreamweaver and whilst it looked kinda pretty, the code must have been a nightmare. It was also terribly hard to update! The second coming of Fishnip saw a return to basics as I started utilising CSS to style it rather than HTML. It had a very pleasant navy theme that I sadly lost when my webhost went bust. This third incarnation of Fishnip sees the CSS styling continue as I try out new ways of expressing myself via badly-written code. I hope you like it just as much as I do!
I couldn't have done it without inspiration from CSS Zen Garden. Their premise is uncomplicated and beautiful design catering to the w3 web coding standards. Whilst I can't reach their heady heights just yet, it remains a goal at some point.
Finally, thanks to the lads at Kiwi's Forums for coding advice, Siān for ideas, and Carl for putting up with me on MSN pestering him about whether everything looks ok :P
